Friday - our last day in Changsha. Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!


Our guide, Amy took our family and the other from upstate NY, out for an authentic dinner last night. This is the second time we went to this restaurant around the corner. The food is yummy and a little bit of everything for everyone; meat, fish, and veggies. Some of it was spicy and some was not. Changsha is known for their spicy food. They also call their girls…”spicy” girls. I think we can safely say…..we HAVE one of those. (Oh and by the way, the food is cheap. We fed 7 adults and a child with plenty to spare one night for $90RMB per family, which means we fed Bill, Kristin and Kassie and paid a little over $13. Gotta love that.)

Kassie woke this morning at 6:15am. She is a slow waker-upper. I can pick her up out of the crib and she is cuddly. She will fall asleep between us on the bed for another hour and wake-up seems to be around 7am. I was sitting on the bed talking and singing…no worries and I got a good crack across the face. And so the morning began. Oh well….1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10.

Potty, then dressing and then our morning Ni-Hao Kai-Lan. She loves the cartoon. I know the theme song now and we can sing it together. She likes music. We were smart this morning and Chris and Italo went to breakfast before us and ate. We met them 20 minutes later and we were able to eat and she could sit with MeMa and eat. Boy can she eat. She ate fried rice, apple, banana, and some sweet potato.

We were supposed to check-out of the hotel at 4pm today. The problem is, Amy is not picking us up for the train station until 9pm. We did not know what we were going to do, especially if the weather was not nice (and the weather is drizzling out now). So, we paid for one room here at the hotel so we could have a home base for the day. Chris and Italo are packing up their room now. They will take Kassie and we will pack up our room. We’ll move the luggage, potty, and crib into their room and hang out for the day. If it’s nice later, I’m sure Bill will want to go walk for more brandy coffee.

Bill and Kassie are playing on the LARGE marble window sill. She is learning “ta-da” so she will able to play just fine with Fiona. She will jump into our arms with no fear and is laughing and playing. Bill and her are doing “zerberts” (sp??) on the window. She is giggling up a storm. Lots of fun.

We ate a light lunch in the hotel. The sandwiches are good and we can get a fruit platter for Kassie and then she’ll eat some of our food. She tried her first chicken nugget today and surprise…..she likes it. She also ate a fresh date, watermelon, banana, a persimmon, and some red grapes. Kassie is napping on MeMa right now so she’s getting her nap in which is good. Bill is downstairs checking out with Amy.

Keep your fingers crossed that the train is okay. Kristin is a little nervous but it’s another adventure. Thanks for the posts…they help and are encouraging. Feels like love from home as we read them……Later all…..

It looks like things are getting a little better..thank goodness you can count!!..still can't wait to see the litle stinker...hope she gets along with Emmy. Everyone here at CC send their love, as do I. Gram Wil
