Our journey began this morning on a bad note. We arrived 2hrs early for our flight and checked in with no problems. After a gourmet meal at McD's, we noticed the arrival/departure board had changed for the worse…..our flight was delayed. The plane from Newark landed in Albany at 10:50 am, we boarded by 11:05 and taxied to the end of runway…. that’s where we stopped! We proceeded to sit on the tarmac for 30 minutes. We finally took off at 11:45am and landed in Newark at 12:30pm exactly 20 minutes after our flight for Beijing had left. We sit here now looking out our hotel room window in beautiful downtown NEWARK,NJ. No other flights out for the day. Continental Airlines had no other excuse but weather despite the fact the sun was shining and the skies were blue. There was nothing that could be done. We are now scheduled to be on the same flight – tomorrow - 10/24/08. Our itinerary in Beijing will now be condensed and we'll still be in Changsha on 10/26/08. Not happy with the situation, but we are dealing with it. We have our eye on the prize….seeing our daughter on Monday 10/27.We will have lunch and dinner on Continental Airlines today, begin our journey in Newark at the beautiful Holiday Inn and look at tomorrow as a new day. Things can only get better from here.
Not much else to say. Luckily there is a bar.

You've got the right mind set - good for you! Hope you're on your way now. Just FYI: you could have stayed at the Victory. It's 2 mins walk from the WSwan and the medical bldg. I think your agent got confused with the location of the Consular unit that processes the immigration visas. The old bldg is on Shamian Island, but you'll be taking a 30-40 mins ride into the city to the bldg that houses the office where your peanut will get her visa. Again, no biggie but it's always a good thing to know where you'll be going.
