We are in our glory

Today was official. We went to the Civil Affairs office took pictures, signed more documents, made our official "donation" to the orphanage, and put our fingerprints in red ink and Kassie’s handprint on more paperwork so it is official….for China. (USA official is the next city.) YEAH!!!

For those of you wondering…..

Last night went well. Kassie fell asleep around 6pm. Bill and I fell asleep an hour or so later. Around 10:30pm we ordered room service and ate while she slept. She is a lot like Bill in that she has an internal body temp that is unbelievable. She was sleeping in between us and was making us both hot. We woke her up around 11pm and fed her some fried rice and watermelon. She ate well. She went back to bed and slept until 6:30am. It was quite a really great night for all. Keep your fingers crossed that tonight is as smooth. No breakdowns today….well one….I waited too long to bring her to the bathroom and she got really upset before the accident. My fault. Live and learn.

We went to Wal-Mart. It was an experience. The stuff they sell is funny in comparison. We saw frogs and turtles and crabs…all alive waiting to become dinner. We bought a carriage and it was the best investment so far. She loves it and likes watching everything while she is being pushed around. Amy, our guide, showed us some crackers she would like as well as some cookies and milk boxes. The bill was tallied and Wal-Mart in China is cheaper than Wal-Mart in the USA.
We ate lunch in the restaurant today. She LOVES watermelon and French fries, and fishies crackers from home. She drank some milk before we went to lunch so it is not the most nutritious lunch ever but we’re getting used to each other.
Mom is in her glory right now. For three years all she has been waiting to do is hug her new granddaughter and since we’ve seen her picture, the wait has been worse. Now she is hugging the daylights out of her and is playing "mimic" with her. She is GREAT at it. We have quite the repertoire of barnyard animals, now we are smelling feet and she can say "pee yew", and Mom and her are telling each other they love each other in Chinese. Say…"Wall Eye Knee" (the accent is on the second syllable) Now you can say I Love You in Chinese too.
English will be coming quicker than our Chinese. She knows "Hi", "Bye Bye", and "table". We can blow kisses and wave hello/good-bye.
We are hoping for a nap now…not looking promising. Love to all for the posts….they were great to read…thanks for all the good thoughts. Thanks for the words of encouragement. More to come………
