Christmas was wonderful!!

Kassie Fu celebrated her first Christmas…..YEAH!! This year we were definitely more excited than she was. After all, we have been waiting three Christmas’s for her to be with us to celebrate, she did not even really understand what was going on. She is still too young and too new to understand “Santa”, or “presents”, or even decorating and having a tree. Next year, next year will be great and it will be all about Kassie. This year was more about us just being thrilled she was here.

We unwrapped gifts and it was a process. Every piece of wrapping paper, as it came off the gift, was offered to you as if it were a prize in and of itself so by the time you actually got to the gift, ehhh, it was okay.

We went to the traditional children’s liturgy mass on Christmas Eve and then out to dinner with the entire family. Then Christmas morning was opening gifts here with Caleb and Kassie. Afterwards, down to MeMa’s and PaPa’s for more gifts and the traditional crepes. Kassie loved her first (and second) jelly filled crepe. This is good since MeMa makes them every Christmas morning.

PaPa made a HUGE turkey and MeMa made the fixings so we all ate like kings including Kassie.

The day after Christmas was special too. Our cousins Danny, Liz and Emily came up from downstate to meet Kassie. They stayed for the afternoon and we all had lunch together. It was a wonderful day.

We taught Kassie to say “Merry Christmas” but it comes out more like “Nonny Pissmas”. “Happy New Year”, on the other hand, comes out clear as day. We are all prepared for this Wednesday night. We will be together with friends for the traditional steak and lobster New Year’s Eve celebration. All is good.

Now that Kassie Fu is over her sickness and finished with her medication, she wakes up babbling and does not stop until she goes to bed. Some of it is repeating what she has heard us say, some are phrases she has learned and likes the sound of them so she continues to repeat them. The latest example of this is “sleepytime”. She likes to say it over and over quite loud. We do not question why.
